Sky Blue Book of South Hams Boozy Chocolate Truffles
There are so many fantastic food and drink makers in the South Hams, that we designed this limited edition truffle collection to celebrate the very best of South Devon's bountiful produce. The perfect gift for any discerning foodie, the bean-to-bar chocolate truffles are all made in Island Street, Salcombe and decorated by hand. The selection of South Devon alcohol includes cassis from the Calancombe Estate, Devon rum, Salcombe gin, mulled cider from Heron Valley, Devoncello from the Devon distilling Company and Sparkling wine from Sandridge Barton. Even the charming box was designed and printed in South Devon, and the packaging is fully biodegradeable. The six flavours of boozy truffles in this limited edition artisan collection are:
Calancombe Estate Cassis - (Blackcurrant Liqueur) Bursting with flavour, the cassis is made entirely from Ebony and Ben Connan blackcurrants grown on the estate near Modbury, the tasting profile deliciously is rich and intense on the nose and on the palate is velvety and smooth but with a little acidity balancing its sweetness, creating a lovely well-balanced liqueur. Enrobed in dark chocolate and decorated with blackcurrant powder.
Sharpham Classic Cuvée 2020 from the Sandridge Barton Estate
Sparkling wine produced in the traditional method, maturing in French oak and on the lees prior to bottling, which offers up a more savoury style of English sparkling wine.
This wine has aromas of baked apple, raisin, caramel and bruised peach with a dry palate, and has flavours of red apple and toasted baking spice. Enrobed in milk chocolate and tipped with gold.
Devoncello (Lemon Infused Liqueur) made by Devon Distillery is distilled by hand in Devon using an authentic copper still, made with triple distilled dappa spirit. The Dappa spirit is then steeped in organic lemons and sweetened with a little sugar and some Devonian Spring water. Enrobed in white chocolate and decorated with lemon peel, this truffle is bursting with citrus flavour.
Devon Rum's Premium Spiced Rum is hand-crafted in Salcombe, using a unique blend of exotic Caribbean rums, soft Devonian spring water, aromatic spices, and fresh citrus zest. This full-bodied rum features rich aromas of charred orange peel, smooth caramel, and hints of cardamom. Its complex taste finishes with a warm crackle of cinnamon, tangy star anise, fresh citrus zest, maple syrup and a smack of peppercorn. enrobed in Evening Star (a darker milk chocolate) and dusted with cocoa powder.
Heron Valley mulled cider, made from Devon cider apples grown in the orchards surrounding Heron Valley near Loddiswell, this cider is infused with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Enrobed in milk chocolate and tipped with stem ginger, this truffle has a delicate fruity flavour.
Start Point Gin from the Salcombe Distilling Co, made in the London Dry method is a classic citrus-led gin with refreshing notes of red grapefruit and earthy pine from Macedonian juniper. Enrobed in milk chocolate and topped with zesty Yuzu, this makes a sophsticated truffle.
