Summertime arrived with a big birthday for Salcome Dairy when we celebrated forty years of making ice cream in Salcombe on June 6th. Customers, our whole team present and many from the past, the original founders and good friends joined us for the party and helped us mark the occasion in style with sundaes, chocolate demos and a dash of fizz. From then on a busy summer continued for the Salcombe Dairy Crew with a hectic schedule of keeping customers cool in our shops and at shows. Salcombe was busy on the water with some great summer sailing weather, and everyone visiting the sandy coves enjoyed ice creams and coffees galore at our factory shop and cafe. Kids and adults alike were kept amused with our morning chocolate lolly making workshops. Our ice cream parlour in Dartmouth is becoming a favourite meeting place for locals and tourists alike, and becoming known not only for ice creams and sundaes, but also great coffee and bean-to-bar chocolate gifts. The marvellous Kingbridge in Bloom displays and the reconstruction of the Quay next to our beach hut in Kingsbridge has also provided a lovely space for customers to sit an enjoy an ice cream watching the boats on the estuary. Devon events we supported included some hilarious ice cream eating competitions in Salcombe and Dartmouth as part of the Regatta week fun, as well as foodie events such as the Salcombe Crab festival and Kingsbridge Show. Further afield we have been flying the flag for Devon produce serving ice creams at summer shows far and wide, the highlights bring Countryfile South at Blenheim Palace, The Game Fair at Hatfield House, Sidmouth Folk Festival through to the Pub in the Park events in London in August. Sounds exhuasting? Time to relax? Definitely not – we’re gearing up for winter and turning our minds to chocolate festivals and Christmas shows! Watch out for more news on this soon…
